Farm Map & Facilities Guide

Il Vigno is a working organic farm in the hills above Caprese Michelangelo. The property covers 6.5 hectares of terraced grounds, olive groves, vegetable gardens and woodland — with the Camaiano river running along the lower boundary. Use these maps to get your bearings before you arrive and find your way around once you're here.

The Wider Grounds

The overview map shows the full extent of the Il Vigno property — from the main farm buildings down through the olive grove and aromatic garden to the Camaiano river and Il Vigno beach. Walking trails lead north to the waterfall and east towards Valboncione.

Getting Here
Parking
Three parking areas are marked on the map (P). The main guest parking is directly off the access road, on the right-hand side as you drive up towards Building 1 — where the Bar and Reception are located (rooms 101, 102, 103). If you need to drop off luggage first, drive up to Building 1 or the Piazza in front of Building 2 (rooms 206–210). Please park in the designated areas and keep the central courtyard clear for farm vehicles.
Nature
Camaiano River & Il Vigno Beach
A short walk down through the olive grove brings you to the Camaiano river and our little sandy beach — perfect for a morning swim or a quiet afternoon. The water is clean and cold, so bring a towel. The path to the waterfall starts from the northern boundary of the property.
Gardens
Olive Grove & Fruit Orchard
The lower grounds are planted with mature olive trees and around 80 newly planted fruit trees in the adjoining orchard. You're welcome to walk through both at any time. We harvest our olives in late October and early November.
Gardens
Aromatic Garden & Lower Terrace
To the right of the olive grove sits an aromatic garden with a terrace shaded by an oak tree — a quiet retreat away from the main farm buildings. We've planted hundreds of lavender, rosemary and thyme here, and wild mint and flowers grow freely throughout the surrounding fields. Herbs from this garden find their way into our kitchen and onto your plate.
Walking Trails
Trail to Valboncione
A marked trail from the northern edge of the property leads through oak forest towards the hamlet of Valboncione — a beautiful half-hour walk with views across the Casentino valley. This trail is also part of a long-distance route that spans across Europe, so you could keep walking for days if the mood takes you. Read more about local hiking trails →
Walking Trails
Trail to the Waterfall
A short trail from the top of the property leads to a hidden waterfall and natural swimming pool — one of Il Vigno's best-kept secrets. Around 20 minutes on foot. Best in spring and early summer when the water flow is at its strongest. Read more about natural pools and waterfalls →

Accommodation
Building 1 — Guest Rooms
The main guest building houses our one-bedroom apartments (101 & 103) and studio apartment (102). All rooms include a kitchenette, high-speed Wi-Fi, organic amenities and views over the valley or forest. The Bar, Dining Room and self-service bar — where you can purchase wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks at any time during your stay — are all on the ground floor of this building.
Accommodation
Building 2 — Apartments & Rooms
The upper building houses five self-contained apartments and rooms (206–210), each equipped with a kitchenette. Some feature private outdoor terraces and all offer great views of the forests or valley below. A private office and library — both available for private use — are also found in Building 2. Let us know if you'd like to book either space.
Dining & Social
Big Oak Terrace & Al Fresco Dining
The big oak terrace is the heart of Il Vigno social life — where breakfast is served from 08:30 to 10:00, and Drinks & Tapas take place from 17:00 to 19:00 (Wednesday to Saturday in May; Monday to Saturday from 15 June until the end of the season). The al fresco dining area is where the Farm Fresh Feast table is set from Wednesday to Saturday at 19:00, weather permitting — otherwise the family-style dinner is served in the Dining Room inside Building 1. The al fresco area between the terrace and pool is shaded and cool through the summer afternoons.
Luggage Drop-Off / Pick-Up
Piazza
The central courtyard connecting the farm buildings. Feel free to temporarily park your car here to drop off or pick up your luggage. Please kindly keep this area clear for farm equipment once you're done.
Wellness
Pool
The outdoor pool is open May to September, daily from 08:00–18:30. Sun loungers and towels are provided. The pool area is adults-only (16+). Please shower before entering and be considerate of other guests.
Wellness
Sauna
Our wood-fired Finnish sauna sits beside the pool and is available to guests and Club Vigno members. Open daily 16:00–18:00. Towels provided — no reservation necessary. We're also happy to accommodate requests to use the sauna outside of these hours; just let us know.
Farm & Garden
Orto — Kitchen Garden
Our organic kitchen garden supplies vegetables, herbs and edible flowers to the farm kitchen. Guests are welcome to walk through the orto at any time — just stay on the paths and please don't pick anything without asking first.
Farm & Garden
Greenhouse & Micro Greens
Year-round growing happens in our greenhouse, with a dedicated micro greens station supplying shoots and sprouts to the kitchen. The workshop next door is the farm's working hub — not a guest area, but you're welcome to peek.
Guest Services
Future Farm Shop / Tasting Room
We're planning to convert Marc's small workshop into a farm shop and tasting room, stocking locally grown and produced olive oil, honey, preserves and seasonal produce from the farm and nearby producers. Watch this space. In the meantime, a private workspace above the future shop is available for guest use if you need a quiet place to get things done — ask at the bar to arrange access.
Guest Services
Courtyard
The courtyard behind Building 1 is a quiet, shaded area with seating — a good place to read or make a call away from the main terrace.
Guest Services
Lavanderia
The laundry (lavanderia) is available for guests staying a week or more. Ask at the bar to arrange a slot.
